Daffy down dilly - Lesson 6
SharonB showed us how she makes a daffodil in Lesson 6 of the Joggles Personal Stitch Directory class. Here's my version:

Worked in wool on natural linen. Petals are flat stitch, romanian stitch and vandyke stitch and the trumpet is detached buttonhole.
The Joggles Class finishes this week. I shall miss it. But in the New Year I will be taking part in SharonB's Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. Sharon will be.............well let her tell you herself, have a look here:

Contemporary Casalguidi
This is a sample I did when I studied Casalguidi work for City & Guilds.

The background is knitting yarn wrapped around a frame and then free machined before cutting off. This represents the four sided stitch used in the traditional method. The flower is worked in detatched buttonhole stitch int he traditional fashion. The thin stems are button hole stitched threads from the background. The thick stem is worked in padded stem stitch in the traditional manner.

Joggling Along - Sampler for Lesson 4
Here's the Lesson 4 section for my long sampler.

I was concentrating on 'density'.
There's arrow stitch, german knotted and up and down buttonhole, (up and down buttonhole is another great stitch for curves), arrow stitch variations (changing direction of the stitches) and cretan stitch.
All further embellished with french knots, lacing, beads or sequins to build up the density.
And this is a little experiment with running stitch:

Done on Aida with perle cotton.
I can see lots of possibilities for lacing here, but the point was to use one very simple stitch.
