Cool reception

Do you remember the

  • minipadfolio
  • I made for the WI raffle?

Well, I did put it in the box for raffle prizes and at the last meeting it appeared on the table. And it stayed on the table until the last winning ticket was drawn. A four-pack of cutprice, almost past their sell-by date, baked beans (what kind of person presents THAT for a raffle prize?!!!). One person even turned it over, flipped it open and dropped it disdainfully back down on the table with a derisory 'looks hand-made to me'.

I was a bit hurt, I must admit. And when the secretary came over and said quietly to me that if I made anything I would like to sell, there was an occasional sale table, I was stung enough to reply 'Oh, that was just a prototype, the rest will go out at designer prices'. Oooops!

The Boss said don't worry, it just wasn't their cup of tea.

Don't be hurt this is only the reaction of people who have probably never created anything ubique themselves. I wish I had had a ticket!!!

Well, what kind of people ARE those? Honestly.....

You want to send it to Chicago? It sure looks like a grand prize winner to me.

    Beans.....*shaking my head*

    Ohhhh, I'm feeling your pain!
Hmmph to them, just goes to show that they don't know a good thing when they see it!
    Your mini padfolio IS lovely!
Such is the great divide between people who sew and people who don't.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel!! It is a gorgeous padfolio and don't let those fools make you think otherwise....

I say it is their loss. Your padfolio is quite lovely.

Strange behaviour - their loss, though. I would have certainly picked it out.

Morons is a good name for them- but how did the person feel who won it--they probably thought "thank heavens I didn't get the baked beans"

That is shockingly bad behaviour. I'd be thinking twice about donating again.
    Some people just don't "get" hamdcrafted or appreciate it--dorks :}

Oh for heaven's sakes, those people need an attitude adjustment. I can't believe the nerve of some people...but then again, maybe I can in this day and age.

The padfolio is both beautiful and functional and The Boss is exactly right – but I still believe the “disdainful” lady needs a good kick in the sitdown!

They obviously don't know a good thing when they see it, what philistines.

They certainly don't know a beautiful object when they see one.

Hard not to feel stung -- I certainly would have taken it badly -- but this is what happens when you cast pearls before swine. off with their heads!
