Stitch Explorer - Needle Weaving

I'm taking part in Sharon B's Stitch Explorer Challenge. Find out all about it here. This month's challenge is needle weaving.

I still have some 'blanks' from making spirit dolls, so I used another one of those for this month's challenge.

I've used needleweaving for the petals around the face (perle cotton) and for the 'leaves' and the 'head dress'(crewel wool). I've also used trellis stitch again around face, worked in perle cotton on a foundation of buttonhole stitch. Trellis stitch has joined buttonhole and cretan on my list of favourite stitches!

Here's a close up of the stitching and needleweaving:

I've also used a raised band stitch worked over a twist of roving, so that's another kind of needleweaving.

Hi Kay, soo lovely to meet you at Sue's this week. It was such a lovely afternoon. Your etsy shop is fab and I see you are a premier blogger, it,s a really good blog, now I need to see the other ones on your list!
I hope I meet up with you again, there seems to be quite a few art meet ups starting which is good. I will let you know if I have one.
Take care
Vic (aka Madboo!) x

Oh! I just love these and I love the needleweaving. I haven't done much of it myself, but this is inspiring! :)

OOH, I think this one is a beauty . I like the needle weaving. I'm thinking of doing the TAST session for the first time...get myself motivated to try some new stitches.

Such wide ranging work, from painting to embroidery and doll making. The dolls are lovely, especially the happy faces that you create for them! Lesley
