Have a break - have a picnic!

I had an afternoon out last week with some members and friends of the Creative Co-op. The weather was beautiful and we all took food for a picnic in Sue's garden and Tania made elderflower fizz. Vicki wrote about it on her blog here. (SSShhhh! That's me, in pink and white).

I love summer!

Speaking of gardens, who'd have thought the humble spud could be so decorative in a pot on the patio?!

Just look at these colours!

Stitch Explorer - Needle Weaving

I'm taking part in Sharon B's Stitch Explorer Challenge. Find out all about it here. This month's challenge is needle weaving.

I still have some 'blanks' from making spirit dolls, so I used another one of those for this month's challenge.

I've used needleweaving for the petals around the face (perle cotton) and for the 'leaves' and the 'head dress'(crewel wool). I've also used trellis stitch again around face, worked in perle cotton on a foundation of buttonhole stitch. Trellis stitch has joined buttonhole and cretan on my list of favourite stitches!

Here's a close up of the stitching and needleweaving:

I've also used a raised band stitch worked over a twist of roving, so that's another kind of needleweaving.
