Contemporary Casalguidi

This is a sample I did when I studied Casalguidi work for City & Guilds.

The background is knitting yarn wrapped around a frame and then free machined before cutting off. This represents the four sided stitch used in the traditional method. The flower is worked in detatched buttonhole stitch int he traditional fashion. The thin stems are button hole stitched threads from the background. The thick stem is worked in padded stem stitch in the traditional manner.

wish i knew how to praise this intelligently enough -- i love the modern look of the piece and the elegance of the execution.
