Joggling Along - Sampler for Lesson 4

Here's the Lesson 4 section for my long sampler.

I was concentrating on 'density'.

There's arrow stitch, german knotted and up and down buttonhole, (up and down buttonhole is another great stitch for curves), arrow stitch variations (changing direction of the stitches) and cretan stitch.

All further embellished with french knots, lacing, beads or sequins to build up the density.

And this is a little experiment with running stitch:

Done on Aida with perle cotton.

I can see lots of possibilities for lacing here, but the point was to use one very simple stitch.

Kay, I love your experiment with the running stitch. And your long sampler is so beautiful. Thanks for including the larger images for details with the posts.

Your colors and densely packed patterns are always so striking -- perhaps that is why I now haunt your blog. But then I see your deceptively simple "experiments" like this running stitch work and your chain stitch sampler, and your imagination and design skills stand out in a whole new light. It is such a pleasure to watch you -- thank you so much for sharing what you do.
