Here's the front view. The eyes are fabric covered buttons and wool wrapped plastic washers. The other features are made from beads.

Here are the two flies together. It doesn't look like it in the photographs, but the green fly is quite a bit bigger. The blue fly has a great deal more work in the making of it, because it was made for a metal thread assessment piece.

I am not a big fun of the real ones, but yours are really specials!

Oh and thank you for dropping by and giving me the link to the chicken scratch it was awesome.
These are so great. Never thought I'd like a fly, but I like these.
These look really amazing Kay.You are very clever. I'd love to see a set of them arranged in box frames like specimens.
I LOVE them!! Best looking flys I've ever seen....
Spectacular flies. I couldn't say which I like best, although I love the beaded hairiness on the green one. Will you be creating a swarm?
The toothpicks seem to be giving the stability you want. Have you considered coloring them -- felt pen, shoe polish, paint, cloth, beads?
P.S. I'll be billing you for a new keyboard since your comment about the tool shed sent my morning cuppa widely aspew!
I fergot ot add a comment on the flies but I love them... so cool
Your two flies are adorable--specially love the photo where they are face to face.
They turned out quite nicely, for flies. ;-)
